What were these people like and how do they represent the time period and area of the country being studied in this project?
Jim Cole, Man at colonial park,Bernice rent house partys, Mrs. Elizabeth E. Miller, and Ms.Marie Haggerty were all the stories that showed what life in that time period was like. They represent that time because they either talk about problems with work, being segregated, or having trouble with money. Jim Cole was a black man that wanted to join the AFL union or the Amalgamated Butchers and Meat Cutters. The union didnt accept him, they never said it but Cole knew it was because he was black. The man in colonial park thought there was reall no difference between rich and poor people because in the end they all breathe the same air. Bernice had to have rent house parties just to be able to afford to pay her rent.Mrs. Elizabeth E. Miller had to do a mans work ( cutting the hog and bringing it in the house) because her husband was working late. Lastly Ms. Marie Haggerty explained how you were hired by the way you look and even if you looked responsible they would still test you.
